It is a high-quality trigger release mechanism, engineered specifically for fixed spool (coffee grinder) type reels. Here in South Africa we have adopted it on our side-cast Keith Palmer Scarborough reels, commonly known as Kom-Kyks, but more recently the bionic finger has proven its worth with the application of braided lines and the huge casting distances being achieved with the top of the range surf casting coffee grinders. Whether it is braid or a very thick leader, it doesn't take too many casts to put a strain on the finger. Also, there is guaranteed, no-slip with the bionic finger. There is no doubt that it is in the very near future going to be a vital necessity with fixed spool surf casting.
